Armada 4 Cracker Cats 9

Edmonton would grab the lead early and not let it go. Four and two runs were dropped on the Armada in the second and third innings respectively. The Armada would score two in the bottom of the third, but that was as close as they would get to the Cracker Cats as Edmonton stops Long Beach and improve their record to 22-21. The Armada now are one game below .500 at 19-20.

Armada starter Dusty Gober (3-3) was rocked early in the game. He pitched 4 1/3 innings giving up 9 runs, 4 earned on 12 hits while walking 2 and striking out 4. The bats stayed silent for the most part. RF Norm Hutchins smashed a solo HR in the ninth and finished 3 for 4. LF Dan Trumble went 1 for 4 with a RBI. 2B Cleatus Davidson tripled in a run going 2 for 3. SS Michael Glomb would drive in a run as well.

Edmonton starter Eric Van Slyke (4-3) got the win pitching 7 innings giving up 2 runs on 4 hits while striking out 8. The Cats bats were rockin lead by CF Kevin House. House went 4 for 5 with 4 RBI's and a run scored. SS Orlando Miller would drive in two while scoring three. LF Marcus Nettles and DH Ruddy Yan would each drive in a run.

Probable starters for tomorrow's game for Edmonton Carwin Malone (0-0) and for Long Beach Rik Currier (3-4). Game time is 7:05pm.

LB didn't show much offensively or defensively. Just like when someone bats the ball and the defensive player commits an error in the field but its sometimes recorded as a hit (helping batters and hurting pitchers), and what I call a "GBL hit", it appears that when throwing to a base the thrower is routinely given the error rather than the person who is supposed to catch it. Thats not why LB lost, but this seemed to happen more in this game than most.
