Armada 5 Cracker Cats 10

The score the complete opposite from last night. The Armada had a 4-2 lead until the eighth when Edmonton exploded for four runs and would add four more in the ninth. The Cracker Cats would go on to win 10-5 in another high scoring affair.

Armada starter Andrew Layfield (pictured left) was fabulous. Only his second start in sixteen games, pitched a no decision going 7 innings giving up 2 runs on 6 hits, walking 1 and striking out 4. Sean Buller (2-2) came on in relief in the eighth and ninth unfortunately getting the loss giving up 8 runs, 2 earned on 8 hits, walking 3 and striking out 1. A tough outing for Buller.

1B Norm Hutchins was great again going 2 for 4 with 2 RBI and a run scored. As did CF Steve Moss going 2 for 5 with a RBI and a run scored. 3B Ryan Lehr and DH Brett Flowers would each drive in a run for the Armada. Seven runners were left on base and two errors committed by the Fleet this evening. Edmonton left eight on and also committed two errors.

The top performers for the Edmonton bats went to 2B Dan Luyben and RF Carlos Arroyo. Luyben went 3 for 4 with 4 RBI and a run scored. All four being driven in by in Luyben in the last two innings. Arroyo went 3 for 5 with 3 RBI and a run scored. CF Ruddy Yan had a great night to going 4 for 5 driving in a run and scoring two.

Edmonton starter Nicholas Peterson pitched a no decision going 5 1/3 innings giving up 4 runs on 5 hits, walking 4 and striking out 2. Robert Coello (2-1) delivered in relief going 1 2/3 innings walking 1 and striking out 3. Closer Pete Sikaras got his 11th save pitching 2 innings giving up 1 run on 2 hits and striking out 4.
