Armada 5 Cracker Cats 2
It's sad to see this series end. Every pitch of every inning was breathtaking. After losing last night 9-4, the Armada came back tonight early scoring 5 runs in the first three innings. Great pitching as well propelled the Fleet to a 5-2 victory.
LF Dan Trumble lead off the first on the first pitch he saw for a solo HR to left. "Double" Trumble would finish the day 2 for 4 driving in 3 and scoring one. RF Julian Williams would sac fly in a run in the third inning. 3B Ryan Lehr went 2 for 3 with a run scored. Starter Rik Currier (4-4) got the win. All his wins have come at Blair Field. He went 6 innings giving up 2 runs, 1 earned on 5 hits while walking 6 and striking out 10. Andrew Layfield and Nick Cavanaugh combine to go 3 innings giving up 2 hits and striking out 2. Cavanaugh got his 7th save.
Edmonton starter Chris Malone (0-1) got his first loss going 6 innings giving up 5 runs, 4 earned on 7 hits while walking 3 and striking out 6. DH Marcus Nettles went 1 for 3 driving in and scoring a run. 3B/1B Jose Morban went 2 for 3 driving in a run. Edmonton's record falls to 22-22 as they travel back to Canada to face the rival Calgary Vipers before the All-Star break. Long Beach awaits the Reno Silver Sox for a three game series at Blair Field before the break.
Probable starters for tomorrow's game for Reno TBA and for Long Beach Jonathan Figueroa (1-0). Game time is 7:05pm.

The series against the Edmenton Cracker Cats was one hell of a series. Good pitching at times from both sides. Along with good hitting, great defense, and execution on the base paths by both teams. Good to see that the schedule will allow these 2 teams to hook up 2 more times this season at Blair Field. It will make for some really exciting baseball.
GO ARMADA!!!
