Armada 4 Scorpions 5

It was a tough road trip for Long Beach. Shutout in the first game. Nearly coming back in the second game with emotions rising. Beating Yuma in the third by a run. And having the lead only to see it fall in the ninth at El Centro losing game four 5-4.

Armada starter Andrew Layfield (pictured left) pitched another great game for the Fleet. Getting the no decision he went 6 innings with a four to three lead. Wayne Foltin and Sean Buller pitched the seventh and eight innings respectively for Long Beach giving up no runs. Nick Cavanagh (1-1) pitched the ninth giving up the two winning runs on a base hit from 3B Henry Calderon.

Armada RF Norm Hutchins started the offense for the Armada, tying the game at two with his two run HR to deep right. 1B Brett Flowers would drive in 3B Ryan Lehr that same inning. LF Dan Trumble scored on a sac fly from SS Michael Glomb. Hutchins finished 1 for 4, Flowers 1 for 3, Lehr 2 for 4, Trumble 1 for 4 and Glomb 0 for 3.

Scorpions starter Evan White pitched 7 innings for a no decision for Yuma. Yuma had struck first with a sac fly RBI from 1B AJ Valentine. CF Yosvany Almario scored in the first also on a fielding error. Almario would later double in a run to come within one of the Armada. Almario finished 2 for 4. In the ninth 3B Henry Calderon, who has been on fire against the Fleet, drove in both base runners to give the Scorpions the 5-4.
