Armada 6 Flyers 7

Instead of a pitcher's duel like game one, game two was a hitter's clinic. Both teams combined for 5 home runs. Three players had a chance at the cycle and the Flyers would win game 2 by a score of 7-6.

Long Beach starter Ryan Claypool (2-3) settled down after giving up five runs in the first two innings to finish going 6 innings giving up 7 runs, 6 earned on 8 hits while walking 3. Unfortunately getting his third loss of the season. Reliever Andrew Layfield pitched 3 innings giving up no runs on 3 hits walking 2 and striking out 1.

Offensively the bats were crushing the ball for both teams. 2B Cleatus Davidson went 3 for 5 with a HR shy of the cycle. LF Dan "Double" Trumble was 2 for 4 with two solo HR's. CF Norm Hutchins went 2 for 3 with a solo HR.

The Flyers were awaken in game 2. LF Mark Okano went 3 for 4 a triple shy of the cycle. DH Jeff LaRue went 3 for 4 a triple shy of the cycle. Starter Matt Merricks (2-0) left in the second due to a sore shoulder so his older brother Charles Merricks (1-0) got the win for his team going 4 innings giving up 3 runs on 6 hits walking 1 and striking out 1. Former Armada P Dane De La Rosa got his third save striking out all three batters.

Game 3 of this series starts at 5:05 pm. Tune into the pregame show at 4:55pm on the Long Beach Armada radio network.
