When I pulled into the parking lot a little after 5:30pm it was 118°F (48°C). By the time the game ended around 10pm the temperature had dropped to only 100°F (38°C). This has to provide some sort of home field advantage to the home team.Anonymoushttps://www.blogger.com/profile/00766486861731731512noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-8522655447918188150.post-44558003054501402032008-08-02T01:18:00.000-07:002008-08-02T01:18:00.000-07:00I was sitting about 30 feet away from home plate w...I was sitting about 30 feet away from home plate when Octavio Martinez was beanballed by James Garcia. Its a sick sound - the ball hitting a batting helmet. Martinez eyeballed Garcia and then slowly started walking towards first. Steve Yeager was concerned enough that something might break out that he ran from his third base coaching spot to get between Martinez and Garcia and escort Martinez to first. The home plate umpire also got between the two. I wasn't watching Garcia at first but when I did look at him he was just staring at Martinez. The LB bench came onto the field first, then Yuma. There were some loud words between a few players (I remember Norm Hutchins being the most vocal for LB) but the situation settled down and the game went on.
(I was taking pictures and while I'm backlogged about two weeks with other games I'll post pictures of this particular situation when I get back to Los Angeles Sunday night.)

MarkAnonymoushttps://www.blogger.com/profile/00766486861731731512noreply@blogger.com
